“A once-in-a-lifetime find!” A magnet fisherman in the UK was left in total disbelief after hauling an astonishing collection of deadly weapons—including two submachine guns, a revolver, and heavy blades—from the bottom of a canal in Burnley, Lancashire.

From Canal Bed to Police Escort: The Discovery
Andrew Whiteman, who runs the popular YouTube channel White Welly Magnet Fishing, was fishing along a stretch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal with his girlfriend Hannah when his heavy-duty magnet struck metal.
Using magnets capable of pulling up to 550 kg, Andrew began pulling plastic-wrapped bundles from the muddy bed.

“That is a bucket-list find. I think it’s on everyone’s bucket list to find a machine gun. I’m shaking… Finding and holding that many guns is insane. Was an epic day.”

After uncovering the first submachine gun, Andrew immediately instructed Hannah to call the authorities. While waiting for an armed response unit to arrive, the team continued fishing and brought up even more dangerous artifacts.

What Was Found in the Arsenal?
The shocking collection pulled from the water included a mix of automatic weapons, sidearms, and tactical blades:
- British Sterling L2A3 submachine gun
- Czech Skorpion M83 submachine gun
- Smith & Wesson revolver
- Starter pistol
- Nepali Khukuri machete
- 12-inch fixed blade

What is Magnet Fishing?
Magnet fishing operates similarly to metal detecting on land. Enthusiasts cast ultra-strong neodymium magnets attached to heavy ropes into rivers, canals, and lakes to recover discarded metallic objects.
While most finds consist of scrap metal, bicycles, or shopping carts, finds like this highlight the hidden and potentially dangerous history lying beneath local waterways.
