The LT vz. 35 (known as the Panzerkampfwagen 35(t) in German service) was a Czechoslovak light tank developed in the mid-1930s by Škoda and ČKD to replace outdated early designs. Weighing 11 tons and armed with a 37 mm main gun, it was comparable to other contemporary light tanks derived from the Vickers 6-ton, featuring advanced pneumatic controls, a reliable suspension, and a 120 hp engine that offered a top speed of 40 km/h. Following the annexation of Czechoslovakia, 244 units were seized by the Wehrmacht and actively deployed during the early campaigns of World War II, while additional vehicles served in Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania. Despite its good mechanical endurance and mobility, the tank suffered from early pneumatic teething issues, a small three-man crew structure that overloaded the commander, and obsolete riveted armor protection.
