The Sd.Kfz. 6 (mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 5t) was a medium German half-track artillery and engineer tractor produced between 1934 and late 1943 to tow medium artillery pieces and bridge equipment. Originally designed by Krauss-Maffei before development was transferred to Büssing-NAG (with licensed production also carried out by Daimler-Benz and BMM), over 3,800 units were built across several production iterations. The vehicle was primarily manufactured in two body configurations: an engineer version tailored to transport larger pioneer crews along with pontoon trailers (Pf. 10/11/14/15), and an artillery variant equipped with ammunition storage to tow the 10.5 cm leFH 18 field howitzer and later the heavy 8.8 cm PaK 43 anti-tank gun. Widespread in pioneer and divisional artillery units during the early Blitzkrieg campaigns, production was ultimately phased out in November 1943 in favor of the cheaper and simpler schwerer Wehrmachtschlepper (sWS).
